Drag racing is a type of motor racing in which automobiles or motorcycles compete, usually two at a time, to be first to cross a set finish line. The race follows a short, straight course from a standing start over a measured distance, most commonly , with a shorter, distance becoming increasingly popular, as it has become the standard for Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars, where some major bracket races and other sanctioning bodies have adopted it as the standard.

amusing canine pass time whereby a seated dog scoots himself across the carpet with a guilty, knowing look on his face.
No, the beige carpet wasn't striped - until Snot discovered drag racing!

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DRAG ON AN AIRCRAFT AND OTHER VARIABLES
Drag curve (gliders); Drag Polar diagram; Polar curve (aviation); Drag Polar; Drag polar; Polar curve (aerodynamics)
The drag curve or drag polar is the relationship between the drag on an aircraft and other variables, such as lift, the coefficient of lift, angle-of-attack or speed. It may be described by an equation or displayed as a graph (sometimes called a "polar plot").

Parasitic drag

Parasitic drag, also known as profile drag,: 254 : 256  is a type of aerodynamic drag that acts on any object when the object is moving through a fluid. Parasitic drag is a combination of form drag and skin friction drag.: 641–642 : 19  It affects all objects regardless of whether they are capable of generating lift.

Total drag on an aircraft is made up of parasitic drag and lift-induced drag. Parasitic drag comprises all types of drag except lift-induced drag.
