Examples of use of easterly wind
1. Fire brigade spokesman Alan Oakes said: "The 20 knot north–easterly wind did not help.
2. Weathernet said a brisk easterly wind was to blame for the sudden drop in temperature.
3. According to Read, a strong south–easterly wind would have been a disaster, blowing him right back to Dover.
4. "Certainly for most of Eastern and South Eastern England it is going to feel a lot colder, not just because of the low temperatures, but due to the strength of the north easterly wind." He added: "The chance of snow does get larger on Monday and Tuesday, simply because the air is going to get colder.

Piers Corby of forecasters Weather Action, however, offered some hope that the cold snap will not last too long – although he believes it will return again before the month is out.
