Gumby

Gumby is an American clay animation franchise, centered on the titular green clay humanoid character created and modeled by Art Clokey. Gumby stars in two television series, the feature-length Gumby: The Movie, and other media. He immediately became a famous example of stop motion clay animation and an American cultural icon, spawning tributes, parodies, and merchandising.

Gumby, created by Art Clokey in the early 1950s, was initially a student film called Gumbasia that parodied Disney's Fantasia. In 1955, Clokey produced a pilot episode featuring Gumby, which led to a series in 1955 titled The Gumby Show. The show entered syndication in 1959 and continued production until 1969. Gumby was revived in the 1980s with 99 new episodes produced for television syndication. In 1995, Gumby: The Movie was released as the character's first feature-length adventure.

In February 2022, Fox Entertainment acquired the Gumby intellectual property with plans to launch new series across linear and digital platforms. Gumby has received multiple accolades, including TV Guide naming it the best cartoon series of the 1950s in 1993, and the character has been used in various commercials and promotions. Merchandise related to Gumby includes bendable figures, plush dolls, keychains, mugs, and a video game called Gumby vs. the Astrobots.
