It is native to southern and eastern Mexico (Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, the Yucatán), Central America (Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua), Cuba, and the southeastern and south-central United States (from Texas to Virginia inland to Tennessee and Arkansas).
