Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Freytag (19 September 1788 – 16 November 1861) was a German philologist.
Freytag studied philology and theology at the University of Göttingen. He held various positions, including theological tutor, sub-librarian at Königsberg, and chaplain in the Prussian army. After the Treaty of Paris in 1815, Freytag focused on studying Arabic, Persian, and Turkish languages, and in 1819, became a professor of oriental languages at the University of Bonn. His most notable work was the Lexicon Arabico-Latinum, an improved and enlarged edition of Jacobus Golius' earlier work.
