Έρευνα και Ανάπτυξη (συντμ. R&D, από το Research & Development) είναι ο όρος για την Έρευνα και την Ανάπτυξη στις επιχειρήσεις ως αυτόνομο τμήμα διαχείρισης της εταιρικής έρευνας.

Οι φράσεις-R (στα αγγλικά R-phrases, συντομογραφία του Risk phrases - φράσεις κινδύνου) ορίζονται στο παράρτημα ΙΙΙ της οδηγίας της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης 67/548/ΕΟΚ : Φύση των ειδικών κινδύνων που σχετίζονται με τις επικίνδυνες ουσίες και παρασκευάσματα και χρησιμοποιούνται για την σήμανση συσκευασιών επικίνδυνων χημικών ουσιών. Η λίστα αναδημοσιεύθηκε στην οδηγία 2001/59/ΕΚ, όπου υπάρχουν μεταφράσεις σε άλλες γλώσσες της ΕΕ.
