LAIA (Spanish: Asociaci?n Latinoamericana de Integraci?n, ALADI) was originally created in 1960 as the Latin American Free Trade Association (LAFTA). LAFTA was restructured by the 1980 Montevideo Treaty as a more flexible alternative to LAIA. LAIA, whose membership included Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela, has been declining as a major Latin American integration effort in favor of regional efforts, such as Mercosur. Association headquarters are in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The Latin American Integration Association / Asociación Latinoamericana de Integración / Associação Latino-Americana de Integração (LAIA / ALADI) is an international and regional scope organization. It was created on 12 August 1980 by the 1980 Montevideo Treaty, replacing the Latin American Free Trade Association (LAFTA/ALALC). Currently, it has 13 member countries, and any of the Latin American States may apply for accession.
