Knee capping; Knee-capped; Knee-capping
  • Knee injury caused by a punishment shooting

F-actin capping protein
A HETERODIMER CONSISTING OF ALPHA AND BETA SUBUNITS THAT BINDS TO AND CAPS THE BARBED ENDS OF ACTIN FILAMENTS, THEREBY REGULATING THE POLYMERIZATION OF ACTIN MONOMERS BUT NOT SEVERING ACTIN FILAMENTS.
In molecular biology, the F-actin capping protein is a protein complex which binds in a calcium-independent manner to the fast-growing ends of actin filaments (barbed end), thereby blocking the exchange of subunits at these ends. Unlike gelsolin and severin this protein does not sever actin filaments.
Macrophage-capping protein
PROTEIN-CODING GENE IN THE SPECIES HOMO SAPIENS
CAPG (gene); CAPG
Macrophage-capping protein (CAPG) also known as actin regulatory protein CAP-G is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CAPG gene.
Proteinprotein interaction
  • The horseshoe shaped ribonuclease inhibitor (shown as wireframe) forms a protein–protein interaction with the ribonuclease protein. The contacts between the two proteins are shown as coloured patches.

Proteinprotein interactions (PPIs) are physical contacts of high specificity established between two or more protein molecules as a result of biochemical events steered by interactions that include electrostatic forces, hydrogen bonding and the hydrophobic effect. Many are physical contacts with molecular associations between chains that occur in a cell or in a living organism in a specific biomolecular context.

Kneecapping

Kneecapping is a form of malicious wounding, often as torture, in which the victim is injured in the knee. The injury is typically inflicted by a low-velocity gunshot to the knee pit with a handgun. The term is considered a misnomer by medical professionals because only a very small minority of victims suffer damage to the kneecap. A review of eighty kneecapping victims found that only two had a fractured kneecap. Some victims have their elbows and ankles shot as well.
