Twistedpair cabling is a type of wiring used for communications in which two conductors of a single circuit are twisted together for the purposes of improving electromagnetic compatibility. Compared to a single conductor or an untwisted balanced pair, a twistedpair reduces electromagnetic radiation from the pair and crosstalk between neighboring pairs and improves rejection of external electromagnetic interference.
<hardware> A type of cable in which pairs of conductors are
twisted together to randomise possible cross-talk from
nearby wiring. Inadequate twisting is detectable using modern
cable testing instruments.

<hardware> (STP) A kind of cable used for most Ethernet
cabling, especially fast ethernet connections such as 100
Mbps.
